Russell F. DeMoss, age 74, of Highland, formerly of Rensselaer, passed away Friday June 10, 2011. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Barbara; former wife of 25 years, Joy DeMoss; daughters: Debbie (Paul) Allen of AZ; Elizabeth (fiance Brian) Smith of Kokomo; Denise (Paul) Hartwell of Rensselaer; Linda (Pat) Klahn, of Rensselaer; stepchildren: Norman Kammer of Hammond; Donald (fiance Linda) Kammer of Crown Point; Mary (Matt) Schafer of Highland; and Keith (Margaret) Kammer of CA; 25 grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; brother, Ronald (Carolyn) DeMoss of Kingman, IN; numerous nieces and nephews; and his beloved dog, Angel. Preceded in death by his son, Robert; granddaughter, Courtney Hartwell; his parents; and two brothers. A Memorial and Moose Pilgrim service will be held on Thursday June 16, 2011 at 7:00 PM at the Solan Pruzin Funeral Home & Crematory, 14 Kennedy Ave., (corner of Main and Kennedy), Schererville with Larry Klinger officiating. Private burial at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens to take place at a later date. Friends may visit with the family on Thursday from 5:00-7:00 PM at the funeral home. Russell was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose and past State President of the Indiana Moose Association. In 1993, Russell received the highest degree of the Loyal Order of Moose, the Pilgrim Degree. He retired from Sealy Posturepedic with 30 years of service and worked at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway for 40 years. Russell was an avid bowler and softball umpire.
