VALERIA GREY PRUITT BLOOMINGTON, IN April 18, 1927-March 21, 2013
Valeria Grey Pruitt was born in Hobart, IN on April 18, 1927 to Elizabeth C. Haberman Grey and Harry A. Grey. She attended Hobart High School and Indiana University, graduating with honors in 1949. She taught high school at Mishawaka, Edison in Lake Station, Bloomington High Schools, and resigned to raise three children. She married Emil B. Pruitt Jr. of Gary, IN on August 4, 1951. They lived in Valparaiso, IN prior to moving to Bloomington, IN. Her husband; parents; and one sister, Geraldine, preceeded her in death. She was associated many years with Cub and Brownie Scouts serving as a leader. In addition, she acted as a substitute teacher for MCCCSC. She is survived by sons: Kevin C. Pruitt (Johanna) of Jacksonville, FL and Curt G. Pruitt (Susan Lange) of Racine, WI; and a daughter, Alexis A. Andronikos of Bloomington, IN. She is further survived by eight grandchildren; and 11 great grandchildren, who have benefited from her advice. "Learn from the mistakes of others, because you won't live long enough to make them all yourself!" Some of her final words were "I've had a wonderful life with my parents, my husband and three great caring kids. I am blessed." Allen Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
