William Friant Obituary

WILLIAM G. FRIANT, JR. "WILSON" CROWN POINT, IN William G. Friant, Jr., age 70, of Crown Point, passed away Monday, January 12, 2009 surrounded by his loving family. Wilson is survived by his children: William Friant III, Shawn Ficek and Scott (Sandy) Ficek; grandchildren: Taylor and Bailey; sisters: Janet (William) Chermak and Judy (Wayne) Sullivan; brother, Richard (Sheree) Friant; mother-in-law, Mary Dado; sisters-in-law; brothers- in-law; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Catherine "Cindy" (nee Dado) Friant; parents: William and Irene; brothers: Gene (LaVonne) and Robert "Riley"; brothers-in-law: Anthony Olton and Steven Dado; and niece, Starr Martinez. Funeral services will be held Friday, January 16, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Calumet Park Funeral Chapel, 7535 Taft Street, Merrillville, IN with Pastor Mark Wilkins officiating. Interment at Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens, Schererville, IN. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Thursday, January 15, 2009 from 3:00-8:00 p.m. at the funeral chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family. Wilson retired from Inland Steel with over 35 years of service and was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 2659 in Crown Point. In 2004, Wilson was inducted into the Calumet High School Athletic Hall of Fame. He will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved him. I think we can all agree that you brought many laughs and good times to the Dado family, time and time again.

You provided well for you family and my sister and I always looked forward to spending time at The Friant house in Schererville & San Pierre growing up. We enjoyed activities from playing in the Winnebago, to swimming in the pool, riding the horse, fishing in the pond and taking hikes through the forest preserve - it was always an adventure for us.

You will be missed!!!!!!

Dear Billie,Shawn, Scott and Wilson's dear family,

I can remeber Wilson with a great sense of humor and a very loving husband to his wife Cindy. I will always be greatful for his support to our son Rob during his years playing sports. Wilson never missed a game. he will be sadly missed in our hearts we will always remember a special man.
