PHYLLIS IRENE HARNUNG PORTAGE, IN Phyllis Irene Harnung, age 91, a longtime resident of Portage, passed away on Saturday, March 5, 2011. She was born on July 21, 1919 in Calumet City, IL the daughter of Clarence and Gertrude Andrews. She was a 1937 graduate of Hobart High School. Phyllis was married to Martin Harnung on March 16, 1991. Phyllis was a homemaker who was a member of Holy Cross Lutheran Church, the Banta Senior Center, and a member of the Kitchen Kut-ups Band. Phyllis is survived by her loving family; son, Keith (Debra) Weaver of Portage; grandchildren: Deanna Freeman and Brian Weaver; and other loving family and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Willis Weaver; her husband, Martin Harnung; her daughter, Jeanine Freeman; her sister, Evelyn Andrews; and her brother, Cecil Andrews. A visitation for Phyllis Harnung will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 8, 2011 at Rees Funeral Home- Olson Chapel, 5341 Central Avenue, Portage with a funeral service at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Timothy Engel officiating. Burial will be at Graceland Cemetery in Valparaiso. Memorials in Phyllis' memory may be made to Holy Cross Lutheran Church.
