KAREN AKERS WHEATFIELD, IN Karen Akers, 64, of Wheatfield passed away with her loving family by her side. She was born on March 12, 1949 to Arthur (Alice) Main. Karen was a 1967 graduate of Lake Central High School. She was married to Sandy Akers who preceded her in death. Karen was a time clerk for Nipsco. She enjoyed crafting, reading, cross stitching, yard work, and working with flowers. Karen was preceded in death by her father. She is survived by her children: Gregory (Wendy) Akers of Hobart, Keith (Sherri) Akers of Illinois, Julie Akers of Monticello, and Amanda Akers of Lafayette; sister, Patricia Kopf of Wheatfield; three loving grand daughters: Sandy Lee, Rachel, and Emily; and mother, Alice Main. A visitation for Karen will be held on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 from 3:00-8:00 p.m. at Frazier Funeral Home, 621 S. Halleck, DeMotte, IN 46310. A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, April 3, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Cecilia Catholic Church of DeMotte, with Monsignor Robert Sell officiating. Burial will follow in the Chapel Lawn Cemetery in Schererville, IN. Memorials for Karen may be made to the family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
