JOHN G. HORVATH MERRILLVILLE, IN
John G. Horvath, age 88, of Merrillville, IN passed away peacefully Wednesday, January 29, 2014 surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 13, 1925 in Pullman (Chicago), IL. John is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Gladys; children: Georgene Reekie, Marian Lobo, John C. Horvath, Joseph Horvath and Grace Horvath; six grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren. John served on the Submarine USS Burrfish in World War II. He worked for Verson Allsteel Press Company for more than 40 years and was active with the Knights of Columbus, Coronata Council. John enjoyed, and was very good at sports, especially Golf and Bowling. He won over 100 awards and trophies throughout his life. John was a good dancer; he and Gladys could really "cut the rug". Friends may visit with the family on Monday, February 3, 2014 at Geisen Funeral and Cremation Services, 7905 Broadway, Merrillville, IN 46410 from 3:00 to 7:00 PM with a prayer service at 4:00 PM. Additional visitation will be held on Tuesday, February 4, 2014 at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 200 E. 78th Ave., Merrillville, IN from 9:00 AM until the time of Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM with Fr. Jon Plavcan officiating. Interment will take place at Holy Cross Cemetery in Calumet City, IL. We will miss John, but wish him the best on the next part of his journey.
