MARGARET MAVRON "PEG" PORTAGE, IN Margaret "Peg" Mavron, 77, of Portage passed away February 15, 2014 at St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart, IN with her loving family by her side. She was born on January 11, 1937 in Gary, IN to the late Shirley and Gertrude (Wilson) Corkan. Margaret was a 1954 graduate of Gary Emerson High School. She was married to Louis Mavron who preceded her in 2007. Margaret worked for Montgomery Wards as a parts distributor. She enjoyed reading, doing crossword puzzles, puzzle books, and spending time with her dog, Diesel. She was also involved in the Boy Scouts of America where she was a Den Mother. She always supported her children in their local sporting activities, and was a proud sponsor of the William A. Wirt Booster Club. Margaret was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Louis; and grandson, Brandon. She is survived by daughter, Denise Bernal (Kelly Donald) of Portage; sons: Dennis (Carol) Slawnikowski of Florida, Donald (Kathleen) Slawnikowski of Portage, and Danny (Elizabeth) Slawnikowski of Valparaiso; brother, Jon Corkan of Florida; as well as seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Friday, February 21, 2014 at 2:00 p.m. at the Pruzin Brother Funeral Service, 2700 Willowcreek Road Portage, IN 46368 where friends may visit from 12:00 noon until the time of services at 2:00 p.m. Memorial contributions for Margaret may be made to Autism Society of Indiana. She will be deeply missed my all who knew and loved her. Arrangements under the direction of Jason R. Frazier.
