GELSOMINA "JASMINE" KUYACHICH (NEE LEONARDI) MERRILLVILLE, IN
Gelsomina "Jasmine" (nee Leonardi) Kuyachich, age 86 of Merrillville, IN passed away on Saturday, February 22, 2014. She was born in Rome, Italy on September 8, 1927 to the late Appio and Iolanda Leonardi. She met and married her husband Thomas (Brano) Kuyachich at St. Peter's Basilica. They eventually migrated to Canada and then to Gary, IN. She is preceded in death by her husband, Thomas; sister, Theresa Capeccia (Rome, Italy); brother and sister-in-law: Rayko and Bernice Kujaca (Merrillville); nephew, Claudio Capeccia (Rome, Italy). She is survived by her loving son, Marco (Karen) Kuyachich of Winfield; beloved granddaughter, Laura Elizabeth also of Windfield; brother, Gianni (Angela) Leonardi, of Rome, Italy; nieces and nephews: Susan (Michael) Carniello of Deerfield, IL, James (Jeanette) Kujaca of Homewood, IL, Robert Kujaca of Merrillville, Biljana (Mile) Radich of Phoenix, AZ, Carlo (Emmanuella) Capeccia and Gianluca Leonardi of Rome, Italy; and many other nieces, nephews, family members and life long family friends both here in the United States and Italy. Jasmine was an active member of St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, The Rosary Sodality, the Altar Society, and a retired member of the Croatian Club and Church Council. She will be fondly remembered and missed. Visitation will be held Tuesday, February 25, 2014 at Burns Funeral Home, 10101 Broadway, Crown Point from 2:00PM to 7:00PM with a Rosary at 6:00PM with Father Steve Kosinski officiating. A morning visitation will begin Wednesday at St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Church, 330 East 45th Avenue, Gary at 10:00AM until the time of Funeral Mass at 11:00AM with Father Steven Loncar officiating. Interment, Calumet Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made directly to St. Joseph the Worker Church.
