DONALD CHENEY HIGHLAND, IN Donald Cheney, age 82, of Highland passed away Sunday, February 23,2 014. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Shirley; two children: Tami (late Bob) Murphy and Don (Kim) Cheney; eight grandchildren: Chad (Denise), Jenni (Andy), Brianne (Kevin), Tara (Mike), Andrew (Cassi), Joey, Robbie, and Dawson; 10 great grandchildren; one sister, Gladys Hudson (Joe); many nieces and nephews; and devoted dog, Suzi. Preceded in death by his daughter, Kathy. Funeral services will be held Thursday, February 27, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. DIRECTLY at Covenant Presbyterian Church, 6709 Arizona Ave., Hammond, IN with Rev. James Thomson officiating. At rest Chapel Lawn Memorial Gardens. Don will lie in state at the church from 9:30 a.m. until time of service. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday from 2:00-8:00 p.m. at the Solan-Pruzin Funeral Home, 14 Kennedy Ave., Schererville (corner of Main and Kennedy). Don was a longtime area resident. He was a former Volunteer with the Highland Fire Dept. don was involved in sports for his children and grandchildren.
