Mary Violet Plaza, age 64, passed away Sunday, February 23, 2014 at her residence with her loving and devoted family by her side. She was born July 8, 1949 in East Chicago, IN. Violet was preceded in death by her beloved parents: Luis and Mary Paz; beloved in-laws: Francisco J. and Joaquina Plaza; beloved nephew, William Paz; and beloved brother-in-law, Salvador Novoa. She is survived by her loving husband of 39 years, Francisco R. Plaza, Sr.; loving children: Francisco R. Plaza, Jr., Violet Elizabeth Plaza, and Fabrizio R. Plaza; loving grandchildren: Viviana, Ariana, Liliana, Evalina and Emilia; loving siblings: Anna Maria (Alfonso) Moreno, Luis Paz, Jr., Juanita (Simon) Trevino, Henry (Janice) Paz, Magdalen (Santo Jr.) Corpus, Esperanza (Salvador) Novoa, Blanca (Marcelino) Cuevas, and Stella Mata; loving brother and sister-in-law: Roberto (Alma) Perez; lifelong friends: Chris Gamez, Rosie Serrano, and Maribel Alvarez-Briano; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, and dear friends. Visitation will be on Thursday, February 27, 2014 from 2:00 to 8:00 p.m. in the Main Chapel at the Ridgelawn Funeral Home, 4201 West Ridge Road, Gary, IN 46408. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Friday, February 28, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Guadalupe Church, 3510 Deodar Street, East Chicago, IN 46312. She will be laid to rest at Elmwood Cemetery in Hammond, IN. Violet will be deeply missed by her loving, devoted family and precious friends. God Grant Her Eternal Rest.
