Jacob J. Brask, 92, of Merrillville, IN, formerly of Dolton, IL, passed away March 11, 2014 at home. Jake was born October 27, 1921 in Iowa to the late Jens and Helen (nee Larsen) Brask. He was a fighter pilot and flew 86 combat missions during WW II in P-47's and P-51's with the 41st Fighter Squadron, Fifth Air Force in the South Pacific. He was retired from GATX, where he worked as Foreman of the Air Brake Division for over 30 years and worked at the Dolton Public Library after retirement. Jake was a devoted family man and beloved by all his family. He will be deeply missed. He is survived by his son, James Brask of Grays Lake, IL; daughter, Jeanette (James) Beezhold of Cedar Lake, IN; grandsons: Daniel (Nicki) Brask of Pensacola, FL and Adam Antkiewicz of Jacksonville, FL; three great grandchildren: Tyler, Trent, and Cheryl Jensen Brask of Pensacola, FL; sister, Margaret Nielsen of Lowell, IN; and close family friend, Richard (Pam) DeRobertis of Schererville, IN. Jake was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Marjorie; son, Dennis Brask; daughter, Barbara Brask; three brothers: Astor, Harry, and Leon Brask.
