Rev. Peter J. Georgacakes, age 83, of Munster passed away at home with his loving family at his side. He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Christina; loving son, John (Denise) Georgacakes of Dyer; loving daughter, Catherine "Becka" (late George) Brousalis of Schererville; two grandchildren: Peter and Leah Brousalis; loving sister, Jean Regas of Battle Creek, MI; and many loving nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by one brother, Dean Georgacakes; and one sister, Sophie Mercouris. Rev. Georgacakes was Pastor Emeritus of St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church in Hammond. He touched many lives in this community spiritually. He was a devoted and loving husband, father and grandfather and will be dearly missed by his loving family and many friends. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, March 21, 2014 at St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church, 7021 Hohman Ave., Hammond. Burial at Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation only at the church on Thursday, March 20, 2014 from 4:00-8:00 p.m. with a Trisagion service at 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church. Burns-Kish Funeral Home of Munster in charge of arrangements.
