SHARON LORRAINE RICHARDSON On the evening of March 30, 2014, Sharon passed away at Loyola Hospital in Maywood, IL. She was born on January 16, 1947 in Hammond, IN. Sharon was the first born and first daughter of Leonard Richardson, Sr. and Grace G. (Mechei) Richardson of Griffith, IN. Sharon received a BA in Education in 1969 from MacMurray College; and a MS in Special Education from Purdue University in 1972. She was involved in the American Association of University Woman, Edison Extension Homemaker Club, Hammond Historical Society, T.O.P.S, where she was Secretary, Highland Lincoln Center, Bible study at various churches, AARP, Red Hats, Swinging Seniors, Senior Clubs, and Good Shepherd Episcopal Church, East Chicago. She also attended St. Timothy's Episcopal Church in Griffith, IN and United Methodist Church, Griffith, IN. Sharon loved spending time with family and friends. Her hobbies included reading, road trips with her sister, Joyce, theater, playing "Kings in the Corner" at the Highland Lincoln Center, education, and helping others. When asked how she spent her time, her reply was: "I am doing good deeds". Sharon was preceded in death by parents: Leonard Sr. and Grace Richardson; and nephew, Richard Sluzewski, III. Surviving relatives include sister, Joyce Sluzewski (Dr. Richard) of Punta Gorda, FL; brother, Leonard, Jr. (Dianne) Richardson of Wheatfield, IN; nieces and nephews: Leo (Taya) Richardson of Indianapolis, IN, Dawn (Brent) Ambler of Westfield, IN, Keith Richardson of Louisiana, and James Sluzewski of Denver, CO; great nieces and nephews: Catherine, Zachary, and Connor Richardson, and Madelyn and Brayden Ambler. Visitation and funeral service will take place Saturday, April 5, 2014 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. with service at 3:00 p.m. at Burns-Kish Funeral Home, 8415 Calumet Ave., Munster, IN. Burial service will be private. Sharon requested that donations may be sent to Good Shepherd Episcopal Church and Mission, 4525 Baring Ave., East Chicago, IN 46312. Please visit us at
