BENEDICT P. STODOLA "BENNY" HAMMOND, IN
Benedict P. Stodola, age 86, of Hammond, passed away Sunday April 6, 2014. Benny is survived by his brother, Barney (Lillian) Stodola; niece and goddaughter, Catherine (Matthew) Underwood; nieces and nephews: Patrick, George, Mary Lee, David, Paul, Patty, Madeleine and Fr. Frank. Preceded in death by his loving wife, Margaret, siblings: Andrew, Helen and Frank; parents Andrew Sr. and Mary. Benny proudly served his country in The U.S. Army and was a retired Lieutenant with the Hammond Police Department where he served for 27 years. He was a member of the American Legion Post 16, the Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 802, and the Knights of Columbus. Benny was a lifelong member of St. John Bosco Parish. A Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2014 at 10:00 AM DIRECTLY at St. John Bosco Church, 7113 Columbia Ave., Hammond with Fr. Richard Orlinski officiating. Benedict will lie in state at the church from 9:30 AM until time of service. At rest Elmwood Cemetery Hammond.
