WILLIAM L. POULOS MERRILLVILLE, IN
William L. Poulos, age 84, of Merrillville, IN, passed away on Thursday, April 17, 2014. Bill is survived by six children: Irene (Robert) Dusich of Schererville, Anna (Peter) Poulos-Hughes of Glens Falls, NY, Nicholas (Ann) Poulos of Georgetown, TX, Joseph Poulos of Round Lake Beach, IL, Michael (Gilma) Poulos of McHenry, IL and Christina Greenwell of Edwardsville, IL; 12 grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; sisters: Angelina (Lou) Bravos of Crown Point and Katherine Sotirakos of Chicago; numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean Poulos; former wife, Mary Ann Poulos; parents: Leo and Irene Poulos; brothers: Andrew and Gus Poulos. Bill was a member and former Councilman of Ss. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral. He worked as a Pharmacist for Johnson Drug Store in Gary, St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart and Coram Home Health in Crown Point over the course of his career. Bill was a graduate of Purdue University-College of Pharmacy, and a life member of their Alumni Association. He proudly served in the U.S. Army and was a former Gary Police Commissioner. Bill was an avid Chicago sports fan, enjoying the Bulls, Black Hawks, Cubs and Bears. He was a loving father and grandfather, and truly loved his church. Friends may visit with the family on Monday, April 21, 2014 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Geisen Funeral and Cremation Services, 7905 Broadway, Merrillville, IN with a Trisagion prayer service at 5:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 2014 at 10:00 AM directly at Ss. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Cathedral, 8000 Madison, Merrillville, IN with Fr. Theodore Poteres and Fr. George Pappas officiating. Interment will take place at Calumet Park Cemetery in Merrillville. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to Ss.
