PAUL J. SYTNIK HIGHLAND, IN Paul J. Sytnik, age 59, of Highland, passed away Monday, May 12, 2014. He is survived by his children: Michael Sytnik, Marcia (Louis Scannicchio) Sytnik and Matthew Sytnik; grandchildren: Jaelynn Sytnik and Louis R. Scannicchio; mother of his children, Susan Koshman; uncles: Rich Turpin and Chuck Turpin; cousin, Christy Turpin-Fay; mother-in-law, Marjorie Roehrich; friends: Art, Charlie, Steve, Bob, Leo, Paul, Mick, Bill, Lee, Ernie, and Ed. Preceded in death by his parents: Hank and Shirley Sytnik; aunts: Betty Kalbac and Marge Lukowski; uncles: Bob, Bill, and Jim Turpin; father-in-law, Phil Roehrich; and friend, Jack Lowe. Paul worked in the supermarket industry for over 40 years. He began as a bag boy at Berger's and worked his way up through many positions. Paul was Manager of Strack & VanTil's for over 10 years. He was a diehard Yankees fan and an avid Bears fan. Paul was a member of Sons of the American Legion and enjoyed meeting with his friends, who called him "Budman" at the American Legion Post 180. He was a devoted and loving father and grandfather who will be dearly missed. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2014 at 1:30 PM at the Solan Pruzin Funeral Home, 7109 Calumet Ave., Hammond. Cremation at Solan Pruzin Crematory to follow.
