JOHN A. DE YOUNG SOUTH HOLLAND, IN John A. De Young, age 86 of South Holland, IL, went home to be with his Lord on Saturday, June 14, 2014. He is survived by his beloved wife, LaVerne Van Dyk - De Young; four sons: Robert (Shirley), Raymond (Rosa), Phillip (Pam) and Martin (Kay); two daughters: Sharon (Gregory) Severin and Loretta (Tim) Eenigenberg; nine grandchildren; one great granddaughter; brothers: Cornelius and Arthur (Gladys) De Young; and sister: Marjorie (Russell) De Young. John was preceded in death by his first wife, Bertha; second wife, Hazel; brother and sister-in-law: Tony (Bertha) De Young; and sister and brother- in-law: Marian (Charlie) Buchanan. Funeral services for Mr. De Young will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 AM at the First Reformed Church of Lansing on the corner of Ridge Road and Burnham Ave. Interment will follow at Oakridge Cemetery in Lansing. Friends are invited to visit with the De Young family on Monday, June 16 from 3:00 - 8:00 PM at the Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Rd., Lansing, IL. Mr. De Young was a faithful member of the First Reformed Church of Lansing. He loved his church and one of his favorite Bible passages was Romans 8. He enjoyed fishing and new red cars. He was a loving husband, father, grandpa, and great grandpa and will be dearly missed by his family. www.schroederlauer.com
