MARTIN J. KAUCHAK NAPERVILLE, IL
Martin J. Kauchak, 86, of Naperville, IL passed away June 18, 2014. He was the beloved husband of 62 years to Helen (Arnold). Martin was born on September 9, 1927 in Whiting, IN. He was preceded in death by his parents: Martin and Eleanor (Birmer) Kauchak; sister, Mary Ellen; and brothers: Robert and James. He is survived by sister, Dorothy (late Louis) Fodor; brothers: Richard (Judy) and Donald (Kathy), and sister- in-law, Judy Kauchak. Martin served in WWII during the final years of the war. He then went on to graduate from Indiana University. Martin was employed by Illinois Bell Telephone Co. and then by AT&T until his retirement. Marty was very active in St. Anne's Parish in Hazel Crest while devoting much time to local politics. He was elected City Trustee and then served 20 years as Mayor of Hazel Crest, IL. Marty was a lifelong member of the VFW and American Legion. Family was always very important to Martin. He was the loving father of Martin (Mary Ann), Mark (Karin), Mary Kay (Mark) Peitzmeier, and Marcia (Edward) Sandrick. His real joy was his grandchildren. He was the devoted grandfather of Christopher Kauchak, Matthew Kauchak, Kevin (fiancee Emily) Kauchak, Margaret (Jackson) Culpepper, Laura (Tyler) Mullen, Anne Peitzmeier, Sara (Ben) Ruthven, Katie (Jesse) Miller, Thomas Berdelle, Michael Berdelle, Mark Berdelle; and step-grandchildren: Eddie (Amanda) Sandrick and Andy Sandrick. He was thrilled to be a great-grandfather to Kingston Kauchak and also took pride in his many nieces,nephews, and their families. Visitation will be Sunday, June 22, 2014 from 2:00 until 6:00 PM at Friedrich-Jones Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 44 S. Mill Street, Naperville, IL 60540. The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, June 23, 2014 at 9:30 AM at SS Peter & Paul Catholic Church, 36. N. Ellsworth, Naperville, IL. Interment will be at the St. John/St. Joseph Cemetery, Hammond, IN at 12:00 Noon. In lieu of flowers, memorials to SS. Peter & Paul School, 201 E. Franklin, Naperville, IL 60540 or , 8430 W.
