HAZELCREST, IL Charles A. Thomas, Sr., age 89 of Hazelcrest, IL, formerly of Lansing, passed away on Monday, June 30, 2014. He is survived by his six children: Charles (Charlotte) Thomas Jr., Susan (Sal) Pellerito, John (Alice) Thomas, Luke Thomas, and Matt (Julie) Thomas; eight step children: Dennis (Cheryl) Dillon, MaryLou (Jack) St. Aubin, Janine Righter, Tim Dillon, Ann (Judd) Latham, Bonnie (Steve) Kramer, Matt (Marlene) Dillon, and Marty Dillon; 28 grandchildren and 25 great grandchildren. Mr. Thomas was preceded in death by his 1st wife: Helen (nee Paull), 2nd wife: Jeanne Dillon; parents: Aleck and Stella (nee Urbanovic) Thomas; son: Mark Thomas; step daughter and son-in-law: Beth Anne (Rich) Wisch; and step son-in-law: Rich Righter. Funeral services for Mr. Thomas will be held on Thursday, July 3, 2014 beginning with Prayers at 9:30 AM at the Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Rd., Lansing, IL, and proceeding to St. Ann Catholic Church, 3010 Ridge Rd., Lansing, IL for a 10:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Calumet City, IL. Friends are invited to visit with Mr. Thomas's family on Wednesday, July 2, 2014 from 3:00 - 8:00 PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Mr. Thomas's name to St. Ann Catholic Church. A member of the Greatest Generation, Mr. Thomas honorably served his country during WWII in the U.S. Navy. He worked as a civil engineer in steel production, was a Chicago Bears and Cubs fan and a member of the Knights of Columbus.
