FLORENCE G.KOCHIS (NEE LaNOUE) PORT ORCHARD, WA (FORMERLY OF CALUMET CITY, IL AND MUNSTER, IN) Florence Genevieve (LaNoue) Kochis, 98, of Port Orchard, WA., passed away on Saturday, June 28, 2014. Florence was born on November 6, 1915 in Ashkum, IL., and as a child moved with her family to the Calumet Region. She married the late Stephen G. Kochis in 1936 and he was Florence's partner in their "Dance of Life". In their 63 years of marriage, they raised their family in Calumet City before moving to Munster, IN. Florence's life was full, complete and enviable and she will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. She enjoyed a long and happy marriage with the "love of her life" and raised 5 children of whom she was very proud. She had more good friends than most could ever hope for. Florence was a member of numerous clubs and organizations, but was especially active in the Carmelite Guild for Girls and as an almost 50 year member of Woodmar Country Club. She was witty, intelligent, pretty, fun- loving and proud. Florence loved to dance, write poetry and entertain family and friends. She loved a party…and lived one. Florence is survived by her children: Judith (Martin) Drinka, of Elm Grove, WI.; Janice (Bernie) Rosner, of San Ramon, CA.: Tim (Penelope Wong) Kochis, of San Francisco, CA.; Tom (Peggy) Kochis, of Olathe, KS.; and Christine (Randy) Wills, of Gig Harbor, WA., along with her six grandchildren: Scott Evans, Mickey Evans, Amy (Evans) Nance, Patrick Evans, Kerry (Kochis) Schilling and Tom Kochis; and 11 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Mary Ann Clifton of Hammond, IN., along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her brothers George, Bob and Jack. Visitation will take place Sunday July 6th from 5-7 p.m. at Burns-Kish Funeral Home 8415 Calumet Ave. Munster, In. Funeral Mass will be held Monday, July 7th 10:00 a.m. DIRECTLY at St. Thomas More Church with Fr. Ted Mauch officiating. Friend s are welcome to gather in the Church vestibule at 9:30 a.m.. Burial will follow in the St. John / St. Joseph Cemetery, Hammond, IN. In lieu of flowers, gifts in memory of Florence may be made to the Carmelite Home, East Chicago, IN., and to Marquette University for the Stephen G. and Florence G.
