WILLIAM R. KARRIMAN HOBART, IN William R. Karriman age 84 of Hobart, but was residing in Portage with his daughter, passed away July 7, 2014. He was born in Ambridge, PA to Joseph and Matilda Karriman on July 26, 1929. William was in ROTC all thru High School and graduated from Tolliston in 1948 and then enlisted in the US Navy aboard the USS Gunston Hall during the Korean Conflict. He was a member of the ORAK Shrine Dunes Lodge 741 with Chanters Group, he retired from Lansing Illinois School District 158 and previously owned a service station in Gary, an apartment building in Lansing, Ill, A Dairy Queen Brazier and a motel on Grand Lake in Oklahoma. William is survived by his wife of 62 years Violet (nee Lekar) Karriman; one daughter, Cynthia Karriman Wilson; grandchildren: Ryan Wilson, Heather (Nick) Dagistaro, and Christopher (Samantha Yurechko) Wilson; five great grandchildren: Colin, Sophie, Austin, Dominic, and Jayden; two brothers: Joseph (Wynona), and David (Julie); and one sister, Nancy (Arnold) Pedersen. William was preceded in death by his parents, one brother Robert; and his sisters: Evelyn Gladdis, and Eleanor Orosz. Funeral services will be held on Saturday July 12, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. From the KRAFT FUNERAL SERVICES AND CREMATORY 370 N. County Line Road, Hobart, burial will follow at Calumet Park Cemetery. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Friday from 4:00-7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations to the family would be appreciated.
