HAMMOND, IN Harold H. Hill, age 90, of Hammond entered into the gates of Heaven on Friday, July 11, 2014. He is survived by his children: Karen (Charles) Jones, Harold "Tom" (Janet) Hill,Nancy (John) Ceglarek,Glen Hill, Donald Hill;18 grandchildren;32 great grandchildren; Numerous nieces and nephews and dear friends.Preceded in death by his beloved wife Phyllis Hill;Parents, Russell and Eleanor Hill; 5 brothers and 3 sisters. And beloved granddaughter Eva Tokarz. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, July 15, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) with Dan Nichols, Minister officiating. Burial will follow at Maplewood Cemetery in Crown Point. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Monday, July 14, 2014 from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Bocken Funeral Home. Harold was a lifetime resident of the Calumet Area and a longtime faithful member of First Christian Church of Hessville. He worked for over 31 years at American Maize Co. and was union chairman for local 210 and former president of the Retiree Association. Harold was a proud WWII U.S. Army veteran and served in the European Theatre Campaign, receiving a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. He was a member of American Legion Post #369 and a lifetime member of Chapter #17 of the D.A.V. Harold was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather who will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
