IRENE ORZEL LYNWOOD, IL (FORMERLY OF CALUMET CITY, IL) Irene Orzel (nee Rusin) age 79 passed away peacefully at home Monday, July 21, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer. Irene was the loving wife of the late Daniel T. Orzel Sr. for 56 years. She was the beloved mother of seven children: Cynthia (Mike) Hoyne, Daniel (Maureen) Orzel Jr., Donald (Mary) Orzel, Dale (Tina) Orzel, David (Patti) Orzel and Cathy (Joshua) Fisher; devoted grandmother of Nicholas (Molly) and Ross Hoyne, Sean and Ryan Orzel, Jessica (Matthew) Elza Zackery and Kyle Bear, Alex and Nick Orzel and Miranda Fisher. She is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and other relatives. Irene was preceded in death by her husband, Daniel, parents: Paul and Mary Rusin, daughter Christine Weyant, sister, Rose Orzel and brothers, Edwin, Joseph and Eugene Rusin. Irene had the most important job in the world as a stay at home mom and then grandma. She loved sitting outside in her swing and winning at her lottery scratch off tickets. She was the most amazing woman that never wanted to give up the fight to live. Irene was a member of St. Thomas More Parish and previously of St. Andrew the Apostle Parish. Visitation will take place Thursday, July 24, 2014 from 2-7 p.m. at Burns Kish Funeral Home, 8415 Calumet Avenue, Munster, IN. Funeral Mass will be held Friday, July 25, 2014 10:00 a.m. DIRECTLY at St. Thomas More Church with Fr. Mike Yadron officiating. Friends may gather in the church vestibule at 9:30 a.m. Burial will take place in Abraham National Cemetery, Elwood, IL. Irene loved her children and grandchildren more than anything else and was always there for them. She will always be deeply missed. Please visit us at
