JULIE F. STOWERS PORTAGE, IN Julie Stowers, age 67, passed away on Sunday, July 27, 2014. She is survived by her loving children: David (Dee) Stowers and Carol Wooldridge; grandchildren: Katrina, Michele, Mallory, Bryan, Brad, Nicole and Samantha; great grandchildren: Peyton and Athena; siblings: Joseph (Kitten) Paniaguas and Joanne (Gene Martin) Paniaguas. Dear aunt of many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents: Manuel and Jennie Paniaguas; and sister, Peggy Ostrander. Julie was a librarian at South Haven public library. She was also former president of Altar and Rosary Society at Our Lady of Sorrows and volunteered as a leader for Cub Scouts, 4-H and Brownies. She had a passion for writing poems and stories. Julie was a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother who will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her. Funeral Services will be held on Friday, August 1, 2014, 11:00 a.m. DIRECTLY at Our Lady of Sorrows Church (356 W. 700 N., Valparaiso, IN). Inurnment to follow at a later date at Calvary Cemetery. Friends are invited to visit with the family on Thursday, July 31, 2014 at Rendina Funeral Home (5100 Cleveland Street, Merrillville, IN) from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. with a Rosary service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will also be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Church on Friday from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to St. Vincent De Paul Society (SVDPUSA.ORG) For information please call 219-980-1141.
