Rev. Edward Casimir Wojciechowski, 87, retired priest of the Byzantine Catholic Eparchy of Parma (Ohio), died Wednesday, Aug. 13, in Hammond, in. Father Wojciechowski was born March 9, 1927, in Chicago, the only child of Roman and Anna (Lesek) Wojciechowski, both deceased. After completing his secondary education at Central YMCA in Chicago, Father Wojciechowski served in the U.S. Army, 82nd Airborne, March 1945-October 1946. He earned a BA in philosophy from St. Procopius College, Chicago, in 1952; an MA in philosophy from Loyola University, Chicago, in 1959; and a Ph.D. in philosophy from the University of Notre Dame, South Bend, Ind., in 1963. Father Wojciechowski completed studies for the priesthood at SS. Cyril & Methodius Seminary, Pittsburgh, and was ordained to the presbyterate at the Cathedral of St. John the Baptist, Parma, Ohio, by the Most. Rev. Emil J. Mihalik, on May 19, 1981. Father Wojciechowski's parochial assignments were at Holy Spirit Parish, Parma, Ohio, 1981-1982; Holy Ghost Parish, East Chicago, Ind., 1982-1984 (pastor); St. Basil Parish, East Chicago, Ind., 1982-1984 (administrator); Christ the Redeemer Byelorussian Rite Parish, Chicago, 1984-1989; St. Barbara Parish, Dayton, Ohio 1989-1991 (administrator); St. Athanasius Parish, Indianapolis, 1989-1993 (administrator); and St. John Parish, Minneapolis, 1993 until retirement in 2003. Father Wojciechowski also taught philosophy and patrology at SS. Cyril & Methodius Seminary, 1981-1982. After retirement, he resided at Albertine Home, Hammond, Ind.; assisted at local parishes when needed; and was a supporter of local parish events until his recent illness.
