STEVE R. SHABAN VALPARAISO, IN Steve R. Shaban, 91 of Valparaiso, passed away Tuesday, August 19, 2014. He was born December 16, 1922 in Gary, the son of Ivan and Rose Shaban. Steve was a WWII US Army Veteran serving in the Philippines. He was a member of the VFW # 430 in Merrillville and the Teamsters Union. On May 20, 1952 in Crown Point, he married Geraldine Shaban, who survives in Valparaiso. Also surviving is his daughter Christine (Jerry) Goodwin of Wanatah; a grandson Scott (Jennie) Goodwin; two granddaughters: Stacey (Mark) Wescher and Kerri (Glen) Gudeman; six great grandchildren: Taylor Atkinson, Nikki, Jailynn and Tanner Goodwin, Abrey and Noah Gudeman; and nephews Nick and Pete Skorich. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers and two sisters. Steve enjoyed bowling and gardening. Private Funeral Services will be held at Bartholomew Funeral Home, 102 Monroe St, Valparaiso, Fr. Jerry Schweitzer officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso.
