BOBBY JOE PAYNE VALPARAISO, IN Bobby Joe Payne, age 84 of Valparaiso passed away Tuesday, August 26, 2014. He was born on December 13, 1929 in Lawrenceville, IL the son of the late John and Eva (Lockman) Payne. Bobby was a veteran of the U.S. Army, earning 3 bronze stars for his service in the Korean War. He retired as a machinist from U.S. Steel and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family. On September 9, 1953, Bobby married Melba Rose Risner who preceded him in death on December 18, 2013. He is survived by six children: Alan (Katie) Payne of Hanna, Richard (Penny) Payne, Ann (Mitch) Watson, Sandra (Curt) Joiner, Jacqueline (Tom) Stoner all of Valparaiso and Rodney (Debbie) Payne of Kouts; 14 grandchildren; 10 great grandchildren; and four sisters: Susanne Ryan, Peggy Vogel, Sally Fleetwood, and Lynn Roberts. He was also preceded in death by three sisters and three brothers. Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 30, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at Moeller Funeral Home, 104 Roosevelt Rd., Valparaiso with burial to follow at Angelcrest Cemetery, Valparaiso. Visitation will be Friday from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the VNA of Porter County or the Washington Twp. Volunteer Fire Department. moellerfuneralhome.com
