JOHN BACHAN CEDAR LAKE, IN John Bachan, age 69, of Cedar Lake won his battle with cancer on August 28, 2008 and now walks in peace with our Lord. He was preceded on his journey by his mother and father, sons Anthony and Daniel: his Daughters Michelle and Marcie; his brothers Joseph Bachan, Micheal Bachan, and his sisters Barbara Thweat and Maryann Cooper. He is Survived by his wife, of 39 years, Barbara of Cedar Lake, IN, His Sons: Joseph Bachan (Tina) of Lowell, IN and Thomas Bachan (JoAnn) of Cedar Lake, IN; Grandchildren: Joseph (Megan), Megan, Tiffany, Dennis, Barbara, (husband Jason), Christina, Jonathan; Great-granddaughter Jayda; brothers: Milan Bachan (Eileen) of Griffith, IN; Paul Bachan (Leona) of Munster, IN; Nick Bachan (Karen) of Calumet City, IL; Daniel Bachan (Fran) of Richmond, TX; Robert Bachan (Loretta) of Junction City, KS; Richard Bachan (Gale) of Post Fall, ID; Steven Mihailovich (Bernadette) of East Chicago; sisters Kathleen Knieriemen (Donald) of DeMotte, IN and Josephine Haluska of Highland, IN; numerous nieces and nephews; and his dog Leo. A funeral Mass will be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2008 directly at Holy Name Catholic Church at 10:00 a.m. with Fr. Ed Tlucek officiating. Burial will follow at Chapel Lawn Cemetery, Schererville, IN. Friends may meet with family on Tuesday, September 2, 2008 from 3:00-8:00 p.m. at Burdan Funeral Home 12901 Wicker Ave. (Corner of Rt 41 & 129th Ave) Cedar Lake. John retired from Inland (Mittal) Steel after 32 years of service. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards with his family and playing dice with his grandchildren.
