ROBERT ALBERT GOEB FORMERLY OF NW INDIANA

Robert "Bob" Albert Goeb, age 75, of Franklin, IN, went home to be with his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, September 27, 2008 after a long battle with pancreatic cancer. He was born December 28, 1932 in Chicago, IL to Elsie Catherine (Maurer) Goeb and Henry Joseph Goeb. Bob is survived by his loving wife, Joan F. (Weiss) Goeb. They were married April 15, 1956 at Hamilton Air Force Base in San Rafael, CA. He is also survived by four sons: Robert A. (Jody) Goeb of Wilton, CA, Thomas W. (Renee) Goeb of Battle Creek, MI, Ronald B. (Beth) Goeb of Franklin, IN and Donald M. (Eva) Goeb of Franklin, IN; seven grandchildren: Christopher (Nikki) Goeb of Whiteland, IN, Craig Goeb of Kalamazoo, MI, Donald Goeb II of Ramstein AFB, Germany, Stephanie Goeb of Wilton, CA, Emily Goeb of Franklin, IN, Hannah Goeb of Franklin, IN and Alayne Goeb of Wilton, CA; five sisters: Barbara Waters, Marion Goeb, Harriet Smith, Frances (Frank) Csomer and Donna (Harold) Westphal; and many loving nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Darlene Szabo; and two brothers-in-law: Dale Waters and Paul "Cork" Smith. Bob was a loving husband and father who cherished spending time with family. He loved America, and the family enjoyed many vacations to various parts of the country. Bob believed in the American dream and the principles of life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. He enjoyed life and always had a song to sing. Bob graduated from Hammond Technical High School in Hammond, IN. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force from 1952-1956 and served in Korea during the Korean War. He began his career with Illinois Bell Telephone Company in Lake County, IN in 1956 and eventually transferred to Indiana Bell. In 1978, Bob was transferred to Indianapolis and the family relocated from Griffith, IN to Whiteland, IN. During his years in Griffith, he was an active member of the Griffith Lions Club with many years of perfect attendance, and holding the position of President in 1977. He was also a Republican Precinct Committeeman for many years in Griffith. During his career, he held the positions of Installer, Switchman, Central Office Supervisor and Engineer, and retired in 1987. In 1994, he and Joan moved to Fairfield Glade, TN where they were active members at Christ Lutheran Church. During his years in Tennessee, Bob sang barber shop with The Plateau Cordsmen. In May 2007, they moved to Franklin, IN and became members of Risen Lord Lutheran Church. Pastor John Helt will conduct a memorial service to be held Saturday, October 11, 2008 at 12:00 noon at Immanuel Church of Christ, 2201 Azalea Drive, Highland, IN 46322 with military honors to follow. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until time of service at the church. Interment at Elmwood Cemetery, Hammond, IN. SUCH MEMORIES SINCE ABOUT 3RD GRADE AT IRVING EL SCHOOL, THEN THROUGH TECH, THEN AS YOUNG MEN TOGETHER. FRIENDS THROUGH ADULTHOOD, RAISING KIDS AT THE SAME TIME, PALS AT SPORTS EVENTS, SO MANY GOOD TIMES.
GOD BLESS JOAN AND HER FAMILY, WE WILL ALL MISS BOB.
