GEORGE WILLIAM KINGERY VALPARAISO, IN George William Kingery, age 89, of Valparaiso, formerly of Lake Station, passed away on Friday, October 17, 2008. On October 7, 1936 George joined the Civilian Conservation Corps. then he joined the U.S. Navy during WWII receiving these medals: AMPH Force Shoulder Ins, Asiatic Pacific (five Bronze Stars), American Theater, Phil Lib. Ribb. (two Bronze Stars), and Victory Medal (one Star). He was also a member of the American Legion Post 100 and N.W. Indiana Retirees Club. George was an avid hunter and fisherman. He particularly loved pheasant hunting and his German Shorthair dogs. He was a very skilled mechanic and could repair or fix anything whether it was his or anyone that just had a need. He loved to travel but not without his loving companion and co-pilot, Helen. Papa was a loving and devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and great great grandfather. Papa was always concerned about the welfare of his family, friends and neighbors. He was the greatest story teller and his jokes would fill the room with laughter. George is survived by his wife, Helen Kingery of Valparaiso; his children: Ernest (Sandy) Kingery of Washington, IN, Ronald (Sylvia) Kingery of Valparaiso, IN, Marlene Hoopengafner of Portage, IN, Janet Musitelli of Portage, IN, Sharon (Tom) Cox of Portage, IN, Debra (Mark) Hayes of Valparaiso, IN, Beverly Crowe of Hardensburg, IN, Bryan (Mindy) Kingery of Gallatin, TN and Cristina (David) Bobrowski of Valparaiso, IN; one sister, Genevieve Morgan of Valparaiso; one brother, Ben (Eloise) Kingery of Rock Falls, IL; 23 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his father, Ben E. Kingery; mother, Blanche Kingery; two brothers: Everette and Park Kingery. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. from the Kraft Funeral Services, 370 N. County Line Road, Hobart with burial taking place at Graceland Cemetery, Valparaiso.
