FRANK H. DUTTON, JR. (UNC) GRIFFITH, IN Frank H. Dutton, Jr., age 78, of Griffith, IN passed away Wednesday, November 12, 2008 at Community Hospital in Munster, IN. He was born on April 13, 1930 to Frank H. Dutton, Sr. and Margaret (Meyer) Dutton in Griffith, IN. Mr. Dutton is survived by his nephews: Joel (Sharon) Bratcher of Griffith, Joseph (Charlene) Demchok, Jr. of Michigan City, James (Belinda) Bratcher of Highland, Michael (Laura) Bratcher of Munster, David Bratcher, and Jerry Bratcher of LaPorte. Mr. Dutton is also survived by numerous great nieces and great nephews, and his four-legged friends, "Dukie" and "Oscar". Mr. Dutton was preceded in death by his parents: Frank H. Dutton, Sr. and Margaret (Meyer) Dutton; sisters: Harriet (late Joseph Sr.) and Virginia (late Virgil) Bratcher; nephew, Michael Demchok; and his four-legged friend, "Lady". Mr. Dutton was retired from the E.J.&E. Railroad as a billing clerk. He was a 1948 graduate of Griffith High school. He served as a Corporal in the Army in the Korean Conflict. He was a member of American Legion Post 66 (who will hold services at 3:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home) for over 50 years. Mr. Dutton was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and a former member of Griffith Lutheran Church. He also served on the Griffith Youth Commission and was a longtime Little League coach along with Larry Hilbrich and Jim Ward with the "Cubs". He also was Past President of the Lutheran Dartball League and played for Griffith Methodist in the Hammond Church Dartball League. Mr. Dutton also bowled in the mixed church bowling league on Saturday evenings at Plaza Lanes. He also was a diehard Chicago Cubs fan as well as the Chicago Bears. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church or Griffith Lutheran Church. Funeral services will be held Saturday, November 15, 2008 at 9:30 a.m. DIRECTLY at Redeemer Lutheran Church, 9009 Kennedy Ave., Highland, IN with Rev. Arthur R. Burkman officiating. Burial will be at Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Friday from 3:00-8:00 p.m. at the Kuiper Funeral Home, 9039 Kleinman Road (two blocks south of Ridge Road), Highland, IN.
