GRACE OPPENHUIS (NEE WIERS) LANSING, IL Grace Oppenhuis, age 97, of Lansing, IL passed away peacefully on November 19, 2008. She is survived by three daughters: Barbara (late Hal) Leach of Schererville, IN, Jonell (Pete) Moser of Ft. Myers, FL and Dana (Edward) Ciesielski of Cedar Lake, IN; eight grandchildren; 17 great grandchildren; and one great- great grandson; four brothers: Andrew (Reba) Wiers, Neil (Ruth) Wiers, Arthur (Lorraine) Wiers and John (Pearl) Wiers; one sister, Beatrice (late Harold) Zeilenga; sister-in- law, Jenevive (late Ed) Oppenhuis; and numerous nieces and nephews. Grace was preceded in death by her loving husband, Richard; and four brothers: Peter, Gerben, Marinus and James Wiers. Funeral services will be held Monday, November 24, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the First Reformed Church of Lansing, 3134 Ridge Road, Lansing, IL with Rev. Jacob Dykstra officiating. Burial to follow at Oakridge Cemetery, Lansing, IL. Friends are invited to visit with the family on Sunday, November 23, 2008 from 2:00-7:00 p.m. at the Schroeder-Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Road, Lansing, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Elim Christian School, 13020 Central Ave., Palos Heights, IL 60463. Grace was a lifelong resident of Lansing and enjoyed 65 years of marriage with her husband, Richard. She was a longtime member of First Reformed Church of Lansing where she was a member of The Young at Hearts. Grace will be deeply missed by her family and all who knew her.
