MICHAEL J. LINKO "SLIKE" WHITING, IN Michael J. "Slike" Linko, age 47 of Whiting, IN passed away Friday, January 9, 2009 at the William J. Riley Memorial Residence, Munster. He is survived by his beloved wife of 18 years, Jennifer (nee Domasica); loving father of Luke A. Linko; cherished brother of Debbie (Joe) Franko and Tom Linko both of Whiting, Laura (Scott) Szafasz of Schererville and the late Steve Linko; adoring uncle of Joe "JoeBob" and Andy Franko, Jordan Linko, Valerie Ladendorf, Codi and Cassi Linko; dearest son-in-law of Edward (late Rosemary) Domasica of Whiting; dear brother-in-law of Greg Domasica of Whiting; many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends; and his loyal canine companion, "Ox". Funeral services will be held Wednesday, January 14, 2009, 9:30 a.m. at the Baran Funeral Home, 1235-119th St., Whiting. A Mass of Christian Burial will be offered at 10:00am at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Whiting with the Rev. John E. Kalicky, C.PP.S., officiating. Interment, St. John Cemetery, Hammond. Visitation at the funeral home on Tuesday from 2:00 to 8:00pm. Members of the parish will offer prayers at the funeral home Tuesday at 4:00pm. Mike Linko was born on November 22, 1961 to the late Raymond J. and Jean A. (Korbel) Linko, was a lifelong resident of Whiting where he was a graduate of Whiting High School, Class of 1980. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Whiting. The Knights of Columbus, Pope John XXIII Council 1696 (prayers, Tuesday at 6:00pm) the Greek Catholic Union, the B.P.O.E., Whiting Lodge 1273 (memorial service, Tuesday at 7:00pm) and the F.O.P, Whiting Lodge #68. Mike was the Park Foreman for the City of Whiting Park Dept. with 20 years of dedicated service. In his spare time he enjoyed working with leather and was a great "Titanic" buff. Mike had the ability to tackle a variety of projects. We will miss his strong desire to get things done precisely and efficiently. (219)659-4400.
