JOSEPH ALGOZZINI "JOE" MUNSTER, IN
Joseph Algozzini, age 91, of Munster, IN passed away on Holy Thursday, April 9, 2009 with his family by his side. A devoted husband and father, he is survived by his beloved wife of 67 years, Antoinette (nee Tolli); loving children: Joseph P. and Mary (Algozzini) Osterman; brother, George (Glena) Algozzini; and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents: Paul and Frances (nee Alongi); sisters: Josephine Chaffer and Mary Lombardo; and brothers: Sam (Salvatore) and John . Joseph was born in East Chicago, IN on September 30, 1917, was a graduate of Crane Tech in Chicago and was a veteran of World War II. After many successful years as a Photographic Salesman, he became a Manufacturers Representative, and was founder and owner of Joe Algozzini Associates. He was a member of the Photo Marketing Association (PMA); and his outstanding Photographic sales achievements, early in his career, earned him the valued nickname of "Mr. South Side" by his competitors. Joseph was a former resident of Lansing, IL where he was a coach and manager in the Lansing Little League Baseball Program; manager in the Lansing Babe Ruth League; and treasurer of the Lansing Old Timers. A devout Roman Catholic, he served as head usher for the 11:00 a.m. Mass at St. Ann Church in Lansing for many years. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, April 15, 2009 at 8:30 a.m. at the Schroeder- Lauer Funeral Home, 3227 Ridge Road, Lansing, IL and will proceed to St. Ann Catholic Church, 3010 Ridge Road for a 9:15 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow at Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville, IN. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday, April 14, 2009 from 3:00-9:00 p.m. at the funeral home. www.schroederlauer.com
