SYLVIA RICHMOND (NEE DOLATOWSKI) HIGHLAND, IN
Sylvia Richmond, age 90, of Highland, Indiana, formerly of Indiana Harbor, passed away Wednesday, February 23, 2011. She was born on August 26, 1920 to Frank and Antonia Dolatowski. Sylvia was a graduate of Washington High School She was a former Vice-President of the Indiana Harbor Junior Woman's Club, a Pink Lady at St. Catherine's Hospital during WWII and worked 25 years for Colonel Riley at the First National Bank of East Chicago. She was a former member of St. John Cantius Church and a member of Our Lady of Grace Church. Sylvia is survived by daughter, Nancylee Richmond-Jeffers of Boone Grove, IN; two grand daughters, Kimberly (Andy) Wallace of Centreville, Virginia and Kandace Richmond (Tim) Walter of Valparaiso, IN; six great grand children: T.J. Dillon, Savannah Sylvia and Christian Richmond-Walter and Andrew and Sara Wallace. She is also survived by sisters in law: Marge Dolatowski and Barbara Cabana of California; brother in law, Joe Sucec of Ogden Dunes; numerous nieces and nephews: Jerry (Ron) Scheive, Carol (Ray) Zenka, Janice (John) Spinks, Maryann Ridder, Patricia Rickets, Nellie Dolatowski, Jeff (Bernadette) Sucec, Josesph (Jeannie) Sucec, Terry Dolatowski, Ted (Robin) Dolatowski, Debbie (Dave) Huddelson. Sylvia was preceded in death in 1990 by her patient and loving husband, Lloyd; mother and father, Antonia and Frank Dolatowski; three brothers: Edward, Henry, Teddy Dolatowski; sister, Wanda Sucec; sister in law Ann Dolatowski; and nephew Tom (Rosemary) Dolatowski. Special thanks to friends, neighbors and others who were there for her: Mike, Diane and Peter Larson, Eric Jamrose, Henry Ciesilski, Harriet Wohadlo, Joanne Bonhama, Nelli Bolatowski, Tony Smirski, Lauren Rhein and family, Randy and Marsha Norris and Kali Rasala. Sylvia will be best remembered for her hospitality, delicious home cooked meals and her famous Polish coffee cake. There was always a pot of coffee brewing and a meal prepared for anyone who stopped by. She loved to receive cook books and her favorite song was "Wind Beneath My Wings." Sylvia adored her grand daughters and her great grandchildren. And Sylvia really loved her dog BoBo. Visitation will be held Friday, March 4, 2011 from 2:00 - 6:00 p.m. at Lincoln Ridge Funeral Home, 7607 Lincoln Hwy. (Rt. 30, East of Cline Ave.) Schererville, IN. The funeral service will be Saturday, March 5, 2011 at 10:00 a.m. at Lincoln Ridge with Rev. Joseph Kelchak officiating. At rest Holy Cross Cemetery, Calumet City, IL.
