John Henry Parrish, Jr. was born on March 14, 1952 and departed from this earth suddenly on April 1, 2012. He was the eldest of two sons born to the late Rev. John Henry Parrish, Sr. and Marie Jones Parrish of Hammond, IN. John attended and graduated through the Hammond Public School System. Upon graduation, he became employed at and continued to work at Lever Brothers (Unilever), for over 40 years and until his untimely passing. John leaves to cherish memories, his loving son, Jon of Kuji-City, Iwate Japan, Jerome Williams, mother of his son, Eunice Burns Jarrett, his mother Marie Jones Parrish, and brother Roland (Jewel), niece Aulana, Jade, and nephew Rowland, all of Dallas, TX; extended family and best friend, Harry Reed and Willie Ann Jarrett; aunts: Clote Morrow of Mesa, AZ and Dorothy Jean Norwood, of Indianapolis, IN; uncles: Curtis Parrish of Gary, IN, Eugene Parrish of Mesa, AZ, and Rev. Maurice Parrish of Hammond, IN; and a host of other relatives, friends, and family. John embraced, competed, and challenged the world of karate where he mastered: AKA Hall of Fame Induction, Bushido Society Hall of Fame Induction, National Championship Kata, Weapons, and Black Belt MD/WT Kumite Champion; World Champion Team Kumite Champion, Weapons, and Kata. Visitation and viewing will be held on Friday, April 6, 2012 from 1:00-8:00 p.m. with Family Hour from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Smith, Bizzell, and Warner Funeral Home, 4209 Grant St., Gary, IN 46408. Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 7, 2012 at New Community Missionary Baptist Church, 5461 Calumet Avenue, Hammond, IN. Visitation and viewing 10:00 a.m. Funeral services at 11:00 a.m.
