EDNA MAE SYKES FORMERLY OF OGDEN DUNES, IN Edna Mae Sykes (nee Parker), born June 2, 1915, departed this life on October 2, 2012. Edna was born and lived her childhood years in Tazewell, TN. Her family moved to Gary, IN when she was 12 years old. After her marriage to William F. Sykes, she resided in Ogden Dunes, IN for 46 years. In 1988, Edna and Bill moved to their homes in Cassopolis, MI and Sarasota, FL. Edna attended Horace Mann High School in Gary. She was a member of the P.E.O. Sisterhood and Tri Kappa Sorority. A very gifted artist, Edna's Dunes paintings were in high demand and won many awards. She also worked as a real estate agent in Ogden Dunes for many years. Her neighbors at Bay Village of Sarasota, where she lived for the last eight years, will remember Edna for her brilliant bridge skills. Her sharp mind and keen wit remained hallmarks of Edna's personality. Her greatest gift was her love of and devotion to her family. Known by her four grandchildren and six great grandchildren as "G-G", Edna enjoyed her family gatherings more than anything on earth. Card games, good food and laughter were hallmarks of these events. Edna was preceded in death by her husband, Bill. She is survived by her daughters: Sally (Jim) Barclay and Susan (Marco) Moreno; grandchildren: Bill Robaus, Bob Robaus, Beth Moreno, and Mandy Moreno Choquette (Martin). Also surviving are great grandchildren: Stephanie and Alissa Robaus, Jessica and Ryan Robaus, and Vivianne and Clara Choquette. Services will be held at Bay Village of Sarasota on Thursday, October 25, 2012 at 3:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to MAAP Services for Autism, P.O.
