Gilbert F. Spisak, age 76 of Portage, passed away Saturday, December 8, 2012. He is survived by three children: Gilbert E. Spisak of Portage, Anne Marie (Daniel) Echeverria of Chicago, and Tim (Dawn) Spisak of Crown Point; four grandchildren: Melisa, Kyle, Taryn, and Olivia; two sisters: Georgine (late George) Michko of CO, and Geraldine (late Rudy) Zamorocy of FL; sister-in-law, Geraldine Spisak of MI. Preceded in death by parents: George and Christine Spisak; wife, Rita Ann (Smolar) Spisak; brother, Elmer Spisak; sisters: Jeanette Atwood and Gloria Briggs. Gilbert was a member of Nativity of Our Savior Catholic Church, a member of Knights of Columbus Council #9114, a fourth degree Knight of Columbus member of Fr. Sorin Assembly #240, and a member of the Knights' degree teams. He was an instructor for the Wounded Healers. Gilbert was a U.S. Army veteran having served in Korea for two years. He was a graduate of Bishop Noll High School and received his B.S. Degree in Engineering from Purdue University. Gilbert was a retired Industrial Engineer at LTV Steel Company. Family and friends may call at Pruzin Brothers Funeral Service (2700 Willowcreek Road, Portage) Wednesday, December 12, 2012 from 2:00-8:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 4:00 p.m., a combined Parish and Knights of Columbus Rosary at 7:00 p.m., and Knights of Columbus Honor Guard from 6:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held Thursday, December 13, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. DIRECTLY at Nativity of Our Savior Catholic Church, 2949 Willowcreek Rd., Portage with Rev.
