Casimir Joseph Rutkowski, age 71, of Hammond passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 29, 2013. He is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Rose Rutkowski (nee, Young); two daughters: Janet (John) Novak and Susan Dean; three grandchildren: Jessica Goodrich, Heather Calandrello, and Ryan Novak; one sister, Carol (Fred) Eicke; niece, Deb (Michael Savidakis) Moreno; nephew, Marc (Nina Malinovich) Moreno; grand nephew, Eli Moreno; Aunt Mary, Aunt Sue; numerous cousins and close family members. Preceded in death by his daughter, Pamela Calandrello; and parents: Boles and Stella Rutkowski. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday, February 2, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. directly at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Church, 7132 Arizona Avenue, Hammond (Hessville) with Rev. Charles Mosley celebrant. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Calumet City. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Friday, February 1, 2013 from 3:00 pm. until 8:00 p.m. (prayer service at 3:30 p.m.) at Bocken Funeral Home, 7042 Kennedy Avenue, Hammond (Hessville). There will also be a time of viewing at the church on Saturday morning from 9:30 a.m . until the time of the mass at 10:00 a.m. Cas was a lifetime resident of the Calumet Area and a 1959 graduate of Bishop Noll High School. He proudly celebrated his faith at both St. Catherine of Siena Church and Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Cas was a local businessman in the community; he owned and operated Harold's Jewelry Loan and Pawn Shop in Hammond. He enjoyed fishing, playing cards, gambling and was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.
