JOHN PACHINIAK "LONG JOHN" HAMMOND, IN John Pachniak, age 95, passed away peacefully, Friday, February 22, 2013 at the Town Center Nursing Home, where he had resided for the past three years. John was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years, Regina; and brothers: Stanley, Chester, and Edward Pachniak. John is survived by his children: Carol (Dan) Gonsiorowski, Richard (Janis) Pachniak, and Lawrence (Glenda) Pachniak; grandchildren: Susan (Paul) Balunda, Kristine (Randy) Spotten, Jason (Yvonne) Gonsiorowski, Rebecca Pachniak, Jennifer (Brad) Loucks; great grandchildren: Edward McBride, Parker and Julia Loucks; brother, Harry (Sophie) Pachniak; sister, Betty Marciniak; and sister-in-law, Florence Pachniak; as well as many nieces and nephews. John was a crane operator for American Steel and Blaw Knox Co., before retiring in 1980. He enjoyed hunting and fishing for many years and later in life gardening and finding and repairing items to resale. He was an avid White Sox Fan. He was a wonderful father and grandfather and was loved by his whole family. Visitation will be held at the Fagen-Miller Funeral Home, 2828 Highway Ave. in Highland on Monday, February 25, 2013 from 2:00-8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 DIRECTLY at St. Stanislaus Church, 4930 Indianapolis Blvd. in East Chicago, with visiting from 9:00-10:00 a.m. and a mass of Christian burial at 10:00 a.m. Burial at St. John/St. Joseph Cemetery in Hammond. www.fagenmiller.com
