ROBERT E. WIEGAND VALPARAISO, IN Robert Edward Wiegand, age 74, of Valparaiso, passed away Friday March 1, 2013 after a long 26 year battle of Parkinsons. He was born on June 24, 1938 in Francesville, IN to the late Charles and Ethel (McKinley) Wiegand. Robert was a graduate of Francesville High School. On September 18, 1960, he married the love of his life, Beverly (Ferrell) at the Wheatfield Church of Christ. Robert was a member of American Legion Post 94 of Valparaiso and Chesterton Church of Christ. He was an avid mechanic on all cars and jack of all trades. He retired in 1987 after 20 years of mechanical service at Bethlehem Steel and also served in the U.S. Army from 1961 to 1964. Robert is survived by his wife of 52 years, Beverly (Ferrell) Wiegand; loving daughter, Carolyn (James) Bernth of Parrish, FL; seven grandchildren: Donja and Shaina Johnson of Chesterton, Jamie, Grace, Moriah, Caleb, and Joshalyn Bernth of Parrish, FL; five siblings: Jeanette Stewart, Bill (Sharon) Wiegand, Ray (Evelyn) Wiegand, Norma Ferrell, and Eldora (John) Tidwell; brothers and sisters-in-law; many cousins, nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. He was preceded in death by his Parents; granddaughter, Bethany Bernth; and his aunts and uncles. Family and friends may visit and share remembrance Thursday, March 7, 2013 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Graceland Memorial Park Mausoleum 1505 E. Morthland Dr. Valparaiso, IN. A funeral service to celebrate Robert's life will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, March 8, 2013 at Graceland Memorial Park Mausoleum 1505 E. Morthland Dr., Valparaiso, IN, with the Pastor Denny Smith officiating. Entombment will follow services. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to family.
