John J. Golub, 96, of Highland, IN passed away Tuesday April 30, 2013. He is survived by his wife, Clara; children: Shirley (Bob) Savage, Columbia, TN, Steve (Rosella) Golub, Crown Point, Joe (Karen) Golub, Griffith, James, (Susan) Golub, Highland, and Janice (Richard) Reynolds, Munster; grandchildren: Deanna Thompson, Alan and Thomas Savage, Steven, Benjamin, and Nicholas Golub, Joseph Golub, John and Angela Golub, and Michael, Anthony, Daniel, and Bryan Reynolds; great grandchildren: Emily and Brent Thompson, and Christopher and Braiden Savage; sisters: Agnes Soptich and Mary (Robert) Duffalo; brother, Michael (Mary) Golub; dearest cousin, Frank Ivanich; and beloved friend, Paul Doherty. He was preceded in death by his parents: Michael and Agnes Golub; son, John; grandchildren: Robert Savage Jr., and J.J. Golub; brother, George Golub; and sisters: Katie Biesel and Anne Miller. Visitations will be held Sunday, May 5, 2013 from 2:00-7:00 p.m. with a prayer service at 3:30 p.m. at Fagen-Miller Funeral Home, 2828 Highway Ave., Highland, IN. Funeral services will be held Monday, May 6, 2013 beginning at the funeral home at 10:00 a.m. with a Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. at Our Lady of Grace Church, Highland, with Rev. Edward Moszur officiating. Burial will be at St. John Cemetery in Hammond. Mr. Golub was a member of the Amalgamated Meat Cutters and Butcher Workmen of North America Local 546 and had owned grocery stores in Whiting, Highland, and Munster, and then a Meat Market Manager for Wiseway and Buy Low grocers, and was a Licensed Realtor. He was an usher at Our Lady of Grace Church for many years, and was an associate member of the Highland F.O.P. He was a WWII Veteran of the Army Air Corps and was a member of the Disabled American Veterans and the American Legion.
