JACQUELYN JO DEMAREE (NEE MacBETH) MERRILLVILLE, IN Jacquelyn "Jacquie" Jo Demaree (nee Macbeth), age 60, of Merrillville, passed away Thursday, May 9, 2013 in Merrillville. She is survived by her husband, David of Merrillville; daughter, Angela Demaree of Indianapolis; son, Craig (Janelle) Demaree of Indianapolis; grandchildren: Grant and Alexis Demaree of Indianapolis; mother, Mary Jo Macbeth of Brazil, IN; sister, Katherine (Tony) Maughmer of West Lafayette; nephew, Nicolas Maughmer of West Lafayette; nieces: Natalie Thorgren of Valparaiso and Katie Bowlby of Birmingham, AL. She was preceded in death by her father, Bill Macbeth; and grandson, Parker Demaree. Jacquie was born in Brazil, IN to Mary Jo and Bill Macbeth on December 3, 1952. She graduated from Brazil High School in 1971. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and Mathematics from Purdue University, West Lafayette, IN. Jacquie also studied at the Universidad de Iberoamericano, in Mexico City. She received her Master's Degree in Secondary Education from Indiana University. Jacquie taught Mathematics for the Crown Point Community School Corporation and Merrillville Community School Corporation for 30 years. She was also an adjunct professor of Mathematics at Ivy Tech and Indiana University Northwest. While at Purdue, Jacquie was a member of Alpha Gamma Delta Sorority and was a majorette in the Purdue Band. She enjoyed being Northwest Indiana's middle school mathematics representative to the Indiana Department of Education. She was awarded on four occasions "Who's Who of America's Teachers, and was involved in the Indiana Council of Teachers of Mathematics. Friends may visit with the family on Monday, May 13, 2013 from 3:00 to 8:00 PM at Geisen Funeral & Cremation Services, 7905 Broadway, Merrillville, IN. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at 11:00 AM at Geisen Funeral & Cremation Services in Merrillville, with Rev. David Maddack officiating.
