HELEN MAY WISE CLAYPOOL, IN
Helen May Wise, 93, passed away May 26, 2013 at 11:00 PM in her Claypool, IN home. Helen was born May 18, 1920 to Perry Earl and Sarah Catherine (Trevey) Burch in Fort Wayne, IN. She was a 1939 graduate of Hammond High School, Hammond, IN. On December 25, 1941 in Chesterton, IN, she and Wilbur E. Wise were joined in marriage. Helen was a homemaker who lived most of her life in Kosciusko County and was involved with Atwood Home Study. She was a former member of American Legion Auxiliary #16, Hammond for more than 75 years and attended Christ United Church of Hammond. Helen was a former member of Tri-Chem Instructor (Calumet, Indiana), Band Boosters of Gary (Indiana) and of Cedar Lake Conservation Club. Helen loved and enjoyed being with her daughter, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Survivors include daughter and son-in-law: Kathryn and Loren Melton of Atwood; two granddaughters and their husbands: Sarah and Allen Marsh, and Laura and Shane Herring; grandson, David E. Melton; three great grandchildren: Jordan Herring, Kyleigh Herring, and Elijah Herring, all of Warsaw. Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Wilbur E. Wise (February 12, 1988); two infant sons: Peter and Kevin Wise; sister, Betty Jane Cushman; and an infant brother. Family and friends will gather for a time of sharing in support of each other Friday, May 31, 2013 from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Titus Funeral Home, Warsaw. A service celebrating the life of Helen May Wise will take place Saturday, June 1, 2013 beginning at 10:00 AM in the funeral home. Burial will follow in Prairie Grove Cemetery, Fort Wayne at 12:00 noon. The family has asked that gifts in memory of Helen be given to Kosciusko Home Care and Hospice, PO Box 1196, Warsaw, IN 46581-1196.
