DENO HARRETOS MERRILLVLLE, IN Deno Harretos, age 75, of Merrillville, formerly of Hammond, IN passed away on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at his residence with his loving family at his side. Deno is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Dawn (nee Churilla) and children: Cindy Harretos, Dena (Dwayne) Carlton, Patricia (Paul) Stanford and Denise (Arturo) Vasquez; nine loving grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and dear brother of Harry (Paula) and Mickey (Patricia) Harretos; also, many in-laws, nieces, nephews, family, and friends. Preceded in death by his daughter, Christina in 1993; and parents, Pete and Mabel Harretos. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at 12:00 at the Solan-Pruzin Funeral Home, 14 Kennedy Ave. (SW Corner of Main St. and Kennedy Ave.) Schererville, IN with Fr. Constantine Aliferakis officiating. At rest Calumet Park Cemetery Merrillville. Friends may visit with the family on Tuesday morning from 9:00 a.m. until time of service at noon. Deno was born and raised in East Chicago and was a graduate of E. C. Washington Class of 1956 and attended Indiana University, Bloomington where he was a proud member of the "Singing Hoosiers." Following college, Deno played semi-pro football with the Calumet Steelers. He was a former employee of the U.S. Postal Service and Blaw Knox Foundry with over 25 years of service. And his very best job was working alongside his parents helping manage "Pete & Mabel's" bar in Indiana Harbor. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.
