JUNE KNIGHT (NEE CYR) EAST CHICAGO, IN June C. Knight, age 86, of East Chicago passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, July 27, 2013. June is survived by two sons: Michael (Maryellyn) Knight of South Bend, IN and Kevin (Tamara) Knight of Highland, IN; four daughters: Lucette (Patrick) Higgins of South Bend, IN, Carol (Jeffrey) Webb of East Chicago, Colleen Kasperek of Milwaukee, WI, and Kathleen (Chris) Thompson of Franklin, TN; 15 grandchildren: James (fiancée Hillary Guenther) and Katherine Knight, Mary (James) Govin, Eileen, Patrick and James Higgins, Thomas (Jennifer) Webb, Brian and Kevin Webb, Kathleen (Wesley) Harpster, Anne, William, Margaret, Mary Kathleen and Joseph Thompson; five great grandchildren and one on the way: Cate and Jack Govin, Lucy Kupfer, Paige Harpster and Madison Webb; cherished nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by parents, Joseph Roy and Lucette Cyr; husband, James W. Knight; brothers: Gerald and Roger Cyr. Funeral services will be held Saturday, August 3, 2013 at 9:15am from the FIFE FUNERAL HOME, 4201 Indianapolis Blvd., East Chicago, IN and 10:00am Mass of Christian Burial at St. Stanislaus Church, East Chicago, IN with Msgr. Joseph Semancik and Msgr. John Siekierski concelebrating. Burial to follow at Mt. Mercy Cemetery, Gary, IN. Visitation at the FIFE FUNERAL HOME will be from 3:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday, August 2, 2013. Rosary 3:00 p.m. Friday. June was a lifelong resident of East Chicago; 1945 graduate of E.C. Roosevelt High School; 1949 graduate of St. Catherine School of Nursing; Retired from E.C. Health Department in 1989 as a nurse for Indiana Harbor Catholic, St. Mary's and St. Stanislaus Schools. June lived and loved her life. She traveled the world, but loved East Chicago. She is especially thankful for her family, classmates, club aunties and her gracious and generous neighbors whom she enjoyed all her life. In lieu of flowers, donations to Hospice of the Calumet Area or the Carmelite Home for Girls would be appreciated.
