JOHN E. FLATT CROWN POINT, IN
John E. Flatt, age 61, of Crown Point, IN, formerly of Shelby, IN, stepped into Heaven on Sunday, September 22, 2013 after a courageous two and a half year battle with brain cancer. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Sandra Flatt (nee Romba); children: John B. (Shelia) Flatt, Susan (Andy) Burdine, and Misty (Bill) Scheuneman; grandchildren: Jimmy Stang, Jonathan Flatt, Colton Burdine, Addison Burdine, Ethan Scheuneman, and Skyler Scheuneman; father, John E. Flatt; parents-in-law: Alex and Jean Romba; sisters: Cathy (Mike) Longfield and Carla (Tom) Renn; brothers- in-law: Greg (Debbie) Romba and Mike (Kim) Romba; and many cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends that he adored and loved spending time with. He was preceded in death by his loving mother, Luella Flatt; beloved sister, Carolyn Riley; and brother-in-law, Lee Riley. John was last employed at Glenmount Global Services and retired from ArcelorMittal Steel. His hobbies included traveling, biking, hiking, camping, and spending time with his family and friends. John lived his life to the fullest and always treated people the way he would want to be treated. He impacted everyone who met him, and he touched many hearts and lives. Friends may visit with the family on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at Geisen Funeral, Cremation & Reception Centre (two blocks east of Broadway) at 606 E. 113th Ave., Crown Point, IN from 3:00 to 8:00 PM. Funeral services will be held on Thursday, September 26, 2013 at 10:30 AM at Geisen Funeral, Cremation & Reception Centre, Crown Point, IN with Pastor Brad Lagos officiating. Services will conclude at the funeral home with cremation to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Brain Tumor Association, 8550 W.
