Romainous Schwartzenberger, age 79, peacefully passed away Tuesday, September 24, 2013. He is survived by son, Romain Michael Schwartzenberger, grandchildren: Ondrea, Angelina, Tristin; sisters: Dorothy Nemtuda, Genevieve (Victor) Swetky and Marian Eileen Ray; numerous nieces and nephews; lifelong friends: Gerry Day, Sheila Sowards, Sue Holmes, Pam Hardin, Raymond Day, and Roger Day and their families. Preceded in death by his parents: August and Wallie Swartzenberger; and brother, Michael Schwartzenberger. Romainous proudly served our country in the U.S. Army. He retired from Lever Brothers with over 30 years of service. Rome was a longtime member of the Fraternal Order of Police and the Lake County Civil Defense. He was a beloved father and grandfather and will be truly missed by all the lives he touched. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, September 28, 2013 10:00 AM at Calumet Park Funeral Chapel, 7535 Taft Street Merrillville, IN with Fr. Andrew Corona officiating. Interment to follow at Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Friday, September 27, 2013 from 4:00-8:00 PM at the funeral chapel.
