TERRY SUMMAR CROWN POINT, IN Terry Summar, age 63, of Crown Point, formerly of New Chicago, passed away in Honolulu, Hawaii on February 6, 2014. Terry was a graduate of River Forest High School, class of 1968 and was a retired supervisor at Ford Motor Company with 32 years of service. Terry was a first degree “black belt” in Okinawan karate. He also taught karate classes for several years. Terry was a member of the Miller Chapter of Izaak Walton League. He was an avid boat enthusiast and loved cruising. Terry was preceded in death by his father, Edwin Summar; and sister, Patricia Wilson. He is survived by his sons: Todd Summar (Ken Gerleve) of Chicago and Cody Mills of Crown Point; mother, Alma Patterson of Hobart; sister, Carolyn Hartley (Larry) of Valparaiso; brother, James Summar (Lynn Mercado) of Yuma, AZ; stepmother, Betty Summar of AR; stepbrothers: Steve Nasiatka (Sheila) of AL, Robert Nasiatka (Tammy) of Portage, Ken Nasiatka (Melissa) of AR; former wife, Denise Allen (David) of Portage; longtime partner, Sandra Meacham; many nieces and nephews, aunts and uncles and close friends. Please bring your favorite pictures of Terry to share. Funeral service Saturday, February 15, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at the Burns Funeral Home, 701 East 7th Street, Hobart.
