PETER C. BESSIGANO "POP" LOWELL, IN
Peter C. Bessigano, age 76, peacefully passed away Wednesday, March 26, 2014. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Pat Bessigano; five sons; one daughter; 14 grandchildren; two great grandchildren; sister, Nancy (Lester) Wesley; sister-in-law, Dori Bessigano; many nieces, nephews, and many dear friends. Preceded in death by his parents: Leonard and Grace; and brother, Bob. Pete was a 1955 Hobart High School graduate. He was a Budd Company and U.S. Steel Gary Works retiree. Pete proudly served our country in the U.S. Army and was an Army retiree. He was a life member of the Vietnam Veterans of America, Inc., American Legion Post 261, VFW, and the Disabled American Veterans. Pete was a Veteran Service Officer for the past 10 years and member of the Vietnam Veterans of America Chapter 285. He dedicated his life in making sure that veterans received the benefits that they deserve. Pete was a loving husband, father, and grandfather and will be truly missed by all whose lives he touched. Funeral services will be held on Monday, March 31, 2014 at 10:00 AM at Calumet Park Funeral Chapel, 7535 Taft Street, Merrillville, IN with Chaplain Marty Glennon officiating. Interment to follow at Calumet Park Cemetery, Merrillville. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Sunday, March 30, 2014 from 2:00-6:00 PM at the funeral chapel.
